Adam James

Principal

Originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, Adam has lived in Canada since 2006.  Prior to this, he worked for a variety of firms in the UK, New Zealand and Australia in a number of roles including project manager and owner’s representative before establishing Ryder in Vancouver with Warren Schmidt in 2017.  Adam is a member of the Architectural Institute of British Columbia, and a chartered architect in the UK.  He studied architecture and planning at Newcastle University and undertook further studies at Kings College, London – earning a master’s in construction law and arbitration.  Adam has worked on certified Passive House projects in the UK and sits on the education committee of Passive House Canada.  In his adopted home of British Columbia, Adam spends his weekends discovering the mountains and ocean around Vancouver with his family and learning more about Canada, although ice hockey remains a mystery to him.
