Ryder’s masterplan for Aykley Heads provides 40,000sqm of high quality office accommodation and creates an open, welcoming place where people not only go to work but want to visit too. A working parkland for everyone to enjoy.
The landscape led masterplan takes advantage of the unique setting in attractive parkland and mature woodland, with views towards Durham’s World Heritage Site. An improved network of walking and cycling routes connect to Durham railway station, bus stops and the park and ride, to facilitate active and sustainable travel and reduce car use.
A central heart space provides a focal point, animated by supporting uses such as cafes, shops, creches and gyms. Attractive walking and cycling routes weave through the woodland. Our design guide sets out appropriate materials and tones to respond to particular character areas, the seasonally changing parkland, and local vernacular.
